  - Only silence is recorded
    - Make sure any external connection are firm and correct. Check for damaged cables or loose connections.
    - Make sure the correct recording device is selected in GoldWave. Press F11 and choose the Device tab to select the recording device.
    - Windows XP/2000: Make sure the correct source is selected in GoldWave. Press F11 and choose the Volume tab. Select the Volume device that matches the recording device, then select the source you want to record (such as Line, Microphone, etc.) and adjust volume levels. Make sure the Master control is not muted (if enabled).
    - Try recording in the Windows Sound Recorder accessory to see if recording is working. If not, please contact the sound card or system manufacturer for assistance.
    - If you see no activity on the realtime visuals in GoldWave while recording, no signal is getting to GoldWave. Try enabling the Monitor input option (press F11, Record tab) before setting up connections to help get them right.
  - Cannot hear anything during recording
  - Recording is distorted
  - Recording sounds thin, hollow, or phase cancelled
  - Recording contains stutters or defects not in the original
  - Volume is not loud enough or is too loud
  - Volume level is reset every time recording starts
  - Recording stops suddenly or is too short
  - Recording is too fast or too slow
  - Quality is poor or only one channel is recorded
  - 24 bit quality is selected, but GoldWave shows 16 bit in status bar
  - An error occurs
